The
Downey High School Hall of Fame ceremony was held on Friday,
May 25th, 2007, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the school library.
Randy Meadows was selected as one of this years inductees Other
inductees were: Lorain Brault, 1961; Greg Fuller, 1971 CEO,
All American Home Center; George Pajan, 1987 drummer for "Black
Eyed Peas"; Dr. Chris Pristos, 1971; Rick Trejo, 1979
current mayor of Downey.
Downey
was incorporated in 1956. That same year, a group of athletes
at Downey High School were dedicating themselves to a football
program developed by coach Dick Hill. Randy was part of that
team that tied Anaheim High School in the L.A. Coliseum to become
CIF Co-champions of Southern California. Allen Layne, former
teacher, coach and principal at Downey High, began the Hall
of Fame in 1999. Since it was started, there have been 51 Downey
High graduates inducted.
