A message from the 1956 Downey Viking football team:

We were here fifty years ago. Things have changed. But, we still feel that "Viking Spirit".

In 1956, some of us had the opportunity to play for the Southern California CIF football championship in the Los Angeles Coliseum. There were 41,383 people there to watch Downey and Anaheim play to a 13-13 tie. We will never forget that experience.

You will never be able to duplicate this time in your life so take advantage of it. Make as many friends as possible and get involved on campus. Then you will always have great memories as a Downey Viking.

We think back on our memories from high school and the "Big Game" and that gives us the excuse to get together more often.

We hope that all of you "Vikings" will have fond memories of your time at Downey High School.

Thank you. We will always have good memories!
